Business Partner Assessment

Our Assessment Approach

We explain how the class is determined, how missing information is shown and within which limits the expert makes decisions.

Reported within 2 business days after data entry is complete.

Result

The result is given through three indicators

Class

A · B · C · D

Tells you on what terms you can work together. If critical information is missing, no class is given: Incomplete due to missing information.

Information sufficiency

High · Medium · Low

Shows how much of the assessment rests on answers and documents. Gaps are not hidden; they are listed in the report.

Assessment areas

Strong · Adequate · Limited · Weak

The level of each dimension is shown separately, so strengths and issues to address are visible.

The numerical score is not shown in the panel or on the report cover; it appears only in the methodology section of the report. In a model based on expert judgement, small score differences are not meaningful; the decision is made on the class and the conditions.

Calculation

How is the class determined?

  1. 1

    Answers and documents

Missing or unscorable mandatory answers are imputed as zero and remain missing in information sufficiency. Unanswered optional questions are excluded. Not applicable requires a reason and expert acceptance.

  2. 2

    Dimension level

Each dimension's level is calculated using pilot question weights: Strong, Adequate, Limited or Weak. If a critical dimension cannot be assessed, no class is given.

  3. 3

    Weighted result

Dimensions are combined using weights set for each service, producing the proposed class. The weight of a non-critical dimension that cannot be assessed is redistributed to the others.

  4. 4

    Cap rules

Serious findings are not averaged away: a triggered rule caps the best class that can be reached.

  5. 5

    Expert assessment

The GRC expert may adjust dimension levels and the class within limits, with written reasons. Positive intervention requires valid evidence references. Net or gross positive uplift above 5 points, or total uplift above one class, requires approval. Total uplift cannot exceed two classes. Evidence/scope and insolvency-process caps cannot be removed.

  6. 6

    Approval and delivery

After a separate approver's check, the report is locked as a version and published with a verification code. Any later change is made in a new version.

The role of AI: uploaded documents go through an AI pre-review, and report texts may be drafted with AI support. The score, dimension levels and caps are not calculated by AI; they follow the rule-based steps above. Critical documents cannot be automatically accepted and require expert review. Class A requires documentary review and high information sufficiency. Source-checked scope relies on recorded human checks of specified documents, not automatic official-source lookups. Unsubmitted or expired collateral earns no points; foreign-currency collateral requires a sourced FX quote and eligibility review.

Cap rules

Serious findings cap the class

The common rules are listed below. Some services also have their own rules; for example, source-confirmed sanctions findings and CBAM data for relevant supplier products, and total operating cash costs for franchises.

Mandatory document missing or critical dimension not assessableNo class given
Inconsistent date, signature or format in a documentOn hold until approver review
Low information sufficiencyC at best
Medium sufficiency or declaration-only reviewB at best
Active moratorium or insolvency / failed processD at best
Unexplained material difference between declaration and document on a critical itemC at best
Zero/negative equity or operating losses in two consecutive periodsC at best
Overdue tax/social security debt or ongoing enforcement proceedingsC at best
Undisclosed change of shareholders or authorised signatories in the last 6 monthsB at best
Excessive dependence on a single customerB at best

Active moratorium and insolvency processes may impose a D cap; this is not automatic commercial rejection. If two separate serious findings are triggered together, the expert must consider a D class and justify the decision. A concern about a document is not reported as an accusation.

Information sufficiency

Missing information does not disappear into the score

High

Mandatory documents complete and at least 90% of questions answered

Medium

Weighted coverage at least 70%, high-sufficiency conditions not met, and no critical missing input

Low

Weighted coverage below 70% or a critical input is missing; C at best, DE for critical missing inputs

Limits

What the report is, and what it is not

The report

  • Is an expert opinion based on the information and documents provided, the approved scope and the report date.
  • States which information rests on declarations and which on documents or verification.
  • Supports the decision; the final commercial decision rests with the requesting company.

The report is not

  • A credit rating, an independent audit or a legal opinion.
  • A prediction of default probability or future performance.
  • A certificate of regulatory compliance.

Model thresholds are initial values and are calibrated through a pilot study on past files. Every model change is a new version; reports already delivered stay on their own version.

TCMB sector comparison

Where does the company stand in its sector?

Read company financial indicators alongside TCMB statistics for the same year, sector and appropriate size group. Clear charts and expert commentary explain the differences.

  • ▰ Shaded range: middle half of the sector

Illustrative expert commentary: The collection period is 20 days longer than the sector median. This may increase working capital needs.

All figures in this example are fictional. An actual report identifies the financial year, activity sector (NACE), size group and TCMB source period. The median is the middle value; the middle range covers the middle half of companies. Higher is not always better.

Missing data or an unsuitable comparison group is disclosed, not plotted as zero. The middle range is used only where supported by source data.

Clear comparison

Company values, sector medians and the sector's middle range are shown together. The median is the middle value in the comparison group.

Transparent sources

The report states the data year, NACE sector, size group and source. Use of a broader comparison group is disclosed.

Comparable data

Available across all four services where suitable financials exist. Unavailable comparisons are disclosed for newly established businesses or those without sufficient financial history.

The comparison does not change the score, class or credit limit. It is prepared by RiskOpto using public sector data and is not TCMB approval of a company.
